Making a Difference!

PPL’s Teen Advisory Board is creating a legacy and they’d like you to join them! If you are a ‘tween or teen in 6th through 12th grade, and want to make a difference in your library AND your community, come join this active group.

Our meetings will run from 4:30 to 5:30 PM on the following Mondays:

January 9th
February 6th
March 5th
April 9th
May 7th
June 4th

13th Annual Poetry Contest
April is National Poetry Month and the Teen Advisory Board is sponsoring its 13th Annual Poetry Contest. All ages, kindergarten through adult, are invited to participate. Submit one unsigned, original poem and mark your calendars for:
    Thursday, March 1st: Entry forms are available at the Circulation Desk
    Sunday, April 1st, 5 PM: Submissions are due
    Saturday, April 14th & Sunday April 15th: Bake Sale to raise money for the Poetry Contest Awards. Come show your support!
    Sunday, April 29th, 3 PM: Awards reception for all poets
Geek Out
Teen Tech Week @ Your Library
March 4th through 10th

Get connected! 6th - 12th graders, with a library card, you can download music and/or books for FREE! Snag a form @ the library and enter our Geek Out Contest anytime during the week of March 4th - 10th. By downloading either books or tunes, you will be eligible to win a gift card to Best Buy!
Come to the Zoo
Sunday, March 11th, 3:00 to 4:30 PM

We will wind up our Geek Week at a Tech Zoo right here in your library. Enjoy a hands-on presentation of some of the latest technologies and gadgets. Try out a Kindle, a Nook, an iPad and...??

Watercraft Safety Course
Saturday, March 24th, 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM

PPL is again hosting this Safe Boating and Jet-Ski Course, presented by the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Upon completion of this class, students will receive certification that they have met the state’s boating education law. Class is limited to 22 students.

Friday the 13th
Friday, April 13th, 6:00 to 7:30 PM

Come for some freaky Friday fun! Will there be black cats? Ladders to walk under? Scary games to play? All that PLUS pizza! Bring $2 and be ready for some “fang-tastic” fun!

Bake Sale
Saturday, April 14th & Sunday, April 15th

Support our teens as they raise money for their 13th annual Poetry Contest awards. Stop by the library's lobby during open hours to satisfy your sweet tooth and munch for a good cause!
Spruce it Up
Saturday, May 5th, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Teens, do you like to swing a hammer? Paint? Plant flowers? Wear old clothes and bring the tools of your trade as we work together to spruce up the library’s Reading Garden. Besides getting rid of the weeds and planting flowers, we will help Ken Somerset build a grand trellis for our garden.
