Quilting
Monday, May 19th 5:00 to 8:00 PM

Wonder about that old family quilt? What pattern is it? When was it made? Bring your quilt to Poquoson Public Library Monday evening on May 19th, between 5 and 8 PM and let sisters Linda Meredith and Marie Gaetano answer your questions/satisfy your curiosity. Both sisters have taken classes with national quilt experts and have experience in restoring and repairing old quilts that allows them to identify the specifics of individual quilts. Please note that unless a quilt was dates and/or signed by the maker, a date can only be estimated. So come, find the answers about the fabrics, patterns, quilting, and probable era of your family quilt. Only 1-2 quilts per person, please!

A Close Look at Insects

This fun, interactive exhibit allows visitors to get up close and personal with the world of insects. Developed by Dr. Richard Hoffman, the curator of the Virginia Museum of Natural History, and his staff, the library will host this display from April 23rd through August 31st.

This traveling exhibit explores the insect world through model insects in action, a child-friendly microscope, and interactive cabinets with bug specimens, including Virginia's state insect, the Tiger Swallowtail butterfly.

Insect-related programs and activities will be scheduled during the Summer Reading Program. Related reading material will be displayed in the library.
